The Bread of Life
In John 6:35, Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Bread was a daily necessity in Jesus’ time — a staple of survival. When He called Himself the Bread of Life, He wasn’t offering a recipe; He was offering Himself. Just as bread sustains physical life, Jesus sustains spiritual life.
But here’s the beautiful truth: unlike earthly bread that satisfies for a moment, He satisfies forever. His presence fills the empty places in our hearts. His grace nourishes our souls. Bread must be broken to be shared. In the same way, Jesus’ body was broken for us, bringing salvation to those who believe.
And the invitation is open: Come. He welcomes anyone who is hungry, weary, or searching. You don’t need to bring anything but your need — and He promises to fill it.
Every loaf we bake at Life Bread is a small reminder of this greater truth: physical bread feeds the body, but only Jesus, the Bread of Life, can truly satisfy the soul.
Reflection:
-
Where have you been looking for satisfaction apart from Christ?
-
How can you come to Him today with open hands and a hungry heart?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, thank You for offering Yourself freely to me. Thank You for being broken so that I could be made whole. Teach me to hunger and thirst for You above all else, and to share Your love and truth with those who are still searching. Amen.
